Creative leader, author, spinner of yarns and motivational speaker
I’ve lived a full and varied life, and while it hasn’t all been plain sailing, what hasn’t killed me (as the saying goes) has certainly made me stronger. A lot of navel-gazing has ensured I understand why it nearly killed me in the first place.
I believe you can’t let life happen to you—if your ship doesn’t come in, you need to swim out to it. I also believe, like Sophia Loren, that mistakes are one of the dues one pays for a full life. Diamonds are, after all, only coals that stuck to the job!
I draw on life’s lessons, traversing eclectic topics like the joys of schadenfreude, strategic gift-buying, the value of teeth. I’m a fan of the lessons to be learnt from literature, history, and music, with reference and deference to legends like George Eliot, Cleopatra, and Coco Chanel, to help you navigate your own journey from coal to diamond.
Let me entertain you
I write and record stories for people who wear their metaphorical high-viz vests with flair and panache… or want to. Whether the panache in question is Ming or bling, no problem.
In my writing and vlogs, I love entertaining people and inspiring them to feel good about themselves by sharing my insights and philosophies.
I hope you enjoy my eclectic take on life, the universe, and everything. If my philosophy resonates, hit the ‘Subscribe’ button at the top of the page so you don’t miss a story!
My day job and other backgroundy stuff
I own and manage a small creative agency, specialising in brand and identity development. I grew up in the mists of the Scottish Highlands, went to Saint Andrews University (the one ‘Wills and Kate’ famously hooked up at), and bolted to London post-grad, equipped with an MA Hons in Medieval History and a lot of optimism.
I was London-based for 14 years before moving to New Zealand. After 20 years in Wellington, I now live in the beautiful Hawke’s Bay wine region. Apart from the earthquakes and the interminable distance from anywhere else (London is 18,713 kms away!), it’s a great place to be.
